Oh My Zsh is an open source, community-driven framework for managing your Zsh configuration. The Z shell (Zsh) is a Unix shell that can be used as an interactive login shell and as a command interpreter for shell scripting. Zsh is an extended Bourne shell with many improvements, including some features of Bash, ksh, and tcsh.

Step 1 : Install Zsh shell

sudo apt install zsh

Step 2 Install oh-my-zsh

sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ohmyzsh/ohmyzsh/master/tools/install.sh)"
  • During installation, it will ask to change your default shell to zsh. Select Yes(Y) as the option.

Step 3 : Install Autocomplete Plugin

sudo git clone https://github.com/zsh-users/zsh-autosuggestions ${ZSH_CUSTOM:-~/.oh-my-zsh/custom}/plugins/zsh-autosuggestions
  • Update the plugins in oh-my-zsh. open the .zhshrc
vim ~/.zshrc
  • Find the plugins section and update the
plugins=(
  ...
  zsh-autosuggestions
)
  • whenever you type something then oh-my-zsh will remember that and next time it will suggest it
